Introduction

This is a free service providing free highschool education. We cover the scientific courses only but we plan to add more courses than listed below in the near future.

The Program

The course material and the books are carefully chosen to provide the best possible education. This program is the best in the world and will make it easy for the student to pass any highschool exam such as the SAT II exams and the A-level exam. By the end of the program, the student will be above the highschool  level because we teach the full version of the concepts unlike many programs that try to simplify the concepts and the student ends up unable to properly understand the material. The student can even pass exemption exams for many freshman courses and move straight into the sophomore year. This does not mean that the program is hard because the way it is structured makes the student understand all the material very easily. Actually, after doing the first two courses, Algebra I and Geometry, the student can easily study many of these scientific courses on his own or with little help. That’s why we stress the first two courses the most, because they are the foundation for all the other courses. We also provide reading sessions in which we teach the student how to read scientific articles which helps the student in his college years.

Duration

It will take the student on the average three years to finish the whole program. If the student has already finished the ninth or tenth grade and wants to join the program, it will take less time. In all cases, the student must start from the beginning with Algebra I and Geometry.  If not, the student will have difficulties understanding advanced physics and chemistry given in this program.

The Courses

Algebra I

Algebra II

Geometry, plane and solid

Trigonometry

Physics I and II

Chemistry

Biology

Calculus

We will start with Algebra I and Geometry and midway we add trigonometry. After this, the student will be doing three courses at one time.

The Service

The videos explain the lessons and offer few examples on how to solve problems. The student must read the lesson and solve the exercises at the end of the chapter. We have exercise sessions which cover some of the exercises in the chapter.  Those exercises are chosen to illustrate the points being taught. The videos will be uploaded to file sharing services.  In the future, we plan to do more exercises and solve the chapter reviews and the tests and post them on our website.

The Books

1.  Holt Algebra I

Authors: E. Nichols, M. Edwards, E. Garland, and others

Publisher: Holt, Reinhart and Winston

ISBN: 0-03-005419-2

All the chapters in this book will be covered.

2. Geometry books I through V

Author: Dan Clay

The books are found only in electronic form. They can be downloaded from this website: classicgeometry.com

The geometry books will be covered completely. Since they do not have any exercises, you can get any geometry exercise book from your local bookstore. We recommend the following book:

Problem solvers, Geometry

Publisher: REA

ISBN: 0-87891-510-9

This book has many solved exercises (though mostly simple ones) and is a good book for beginners.

The rest of the books will be announced later.

Requirements

Anyone who finished elementary school can join the program. If not, the student needs to know basic math concepts such as fractions, decimals, percentage, and ratios. These should be mastered before joining the program. If the student does not have skills in solving word problems, that is not essential. The student will learn such skills in Algebra I. The minimum  age to join the program is thirteen. Before this age, it may be difficult to understand Algebra and Geometry which are the two basic foundation courses. If you start teaching your child Algebra I at the age of 12 to 14, and your child is unable to proceed, then we advise that you wait few months and come back to it again.  In the mean time, your child must review the basic topics of mathematics needed to start these courses. Once the first two courses are done successfully, the student will have no problem finishing the other courses.

Starting the Program

The student should do one class of algebra I and one class of geometry every day.  When we are done with book 3 of geometry, we will introduce trigonometry and the student will be doing three classes very day. These three courses must be finished before proceeding into the other courses. The rest of the courses will be done simultaneously and in whatever order that the student feels best for him/her.

Parental Supervision

Education is a social event. It cannot be done by simply showing the student videos especially the younger students starting this program at the age of 12 to 15. The presence of parents is essential to the learning process even if the input of the parent is minimal. So we advice the parents to watch the videos with their children and make sure that they understand everything said in the video. If there is anything that your child does not understand, you can explain it to him or her. These short videos are packed with information and the student must go through them carefully. The parents should make sure that their child does the exercises at the end of every chapter in Algebra I and memorize the theorems and their proofs as written in the geometry books. The student must not go to the next lesson till he finishes the preceding one and till all the exercises are done correctly.

At the beginning, especially in Algebra I which introduces many new concepts, the student may feel confused after studying few chapters. At this point, it is better to start again and have a quick review and all the concepts will be clear.

How Can I Help

If you keep visiting our website, we might be able to attract some advertisers and provide a better service. At this point, only two persons are working on this program. We shoot the videos, format them, upload them and maintain the website. This takes a lot of time and your donation or constant visits will help us get more help.

If you download the lessons for free, please use Fileserve and if you decide to buy the service for quick downloading, then please buy Filesonic.

Future Outlook

We are going to keep updating our service and try to improve it. We might offer basic math courses for students who need it. At this point, we do these lessons without a script and there might be minor mistakes made and so we ask you to be patient. We want to upload as many lessons as possible especially for Algebra I and Geometry. If we get more resources and have another teacher, we will do our best to perfect these lessons and run them on a script.

Registration

Please register your name and email. This will ensure your email does not go to the junk mail. We will then answer your questions if you have any questions regarding the study material. We will not give any of your private information to advertisers.
